Questions

Waterproofing questions, answered plainly.

About causes, basements, crawl spaces, drains, pumps, permits, cost and schedule.

Getting started

Is the inspection really free?

Yes. The Free Waterproofing Inspection comes with no obligation. You see a written scope before any work begins or anything is scheduled.

What areas do you serve?

Nashville and nearby communities across Middle Tennessee, including Franklin, Brentwood, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet, Smyrna and more. See the service areas page for the full list.

What do you do?

Basement waterproofing, foundation repair, crawl space care, yard drainage, moisture and mold control, inspections and planning, commercial waterproofing and the care that keeps systems working.

Can I hire you for a small project?

Yes. Many calls are for one gutter fix, a pump replacement, a crack repair or a yearly inspection, and we welcome them.

Causes and diagnosis

Why does my basement leak?

Roof water, grading, clay soil, groundwater pressure, cracks and old joints are common causes. A visit finds which apply to your house.

Is it condensation or a leak?

A taped sheet of plastic on the wall and a moisture meter help tell them apart. We run both tests on a visit.

Do you check outside as well as inside?

Yes. Gutters, downspouts, grading and window wells are often the real cause, so we look there first.

Basements and crawl spaces

Do I need interior or exterior waterproofing?

It depends on the cause, the wall and the access. Our comparison page explains when each fits, and we recommend one after a visit.

Should I close my crawl space vents?

Many homes in Middle Tennessee work better with a sealed, controlled crawl space, but it depends on your site and local rules. We explain the options.

Is a wet basement a health risk?

Damp spaces can support mold. We fix the moisture first, and we point you to EPA guidance and a specialist for large areas.

Yards, pumps and drains

Do I need a sump pump?

Not every basement does. We check where water goes and whether it can leave by gravity before suggesting a pump.

Should I add a battery backup?

Storms can cut power. A backup is worth considering for any basement that fills quickly.

Where can drains and pumps discharge?

Away from the foundation and the neighbors, onto a slope or into a basin or approved line. Local rules apply, and we help you ask the right office.

Cost and schedule

What drives the cost of waterproofing?

The cause, the method, the length of wall, the access, the soil and rock, the equipment and the restoration. A written scope shows exactly what is included.

How do I compare quotes?

Ask each company for the same details: the cause, the method, the equipment, restoration and exclusions. Our quote scorecard helps you compare.

How long does a project take?

It depends on the method, permits, materials and weather. We share a written schedule and call out the delays that could move your date.
