Basement window well and egress drainage with clear covers, gravel and drains that stop water from pooling against windows and below-grade doors.
A window well is a hole in the ground next to your house, which makes it a natural place for rain, leaves and runoff to collect. When the well fills, water can push through the window frame or the wall below it, and the same goes for an outside basement stairwell or an egress well for a bedroom. Fixing the drainage in these spots is one of the simplest ways to cut down on basement moisture, and it fits many Nashville homes with older steel or masonry wells.
We inspect each well, looking at the depth, the frame seal, the base and any signs of past flooding. We clean out debris, add or replace washed stone and connect a drain from the bottom of the well to the footing drain, a sump or a daylight outlet. Where wells are damaged we replace them or add liners, and we fit clear covers that keep out leaves and rain while letting light in. For egress wells, we make sure ladders or steps stay usable and the drain is clear. We also check grading around the well so surface water slopes away.
Window wells and stair wells catch rain and runoff, so they need a way to drain.
A pipe from the well base to the footing drain or an outlet keeps water from standing.
Clear covers keep out leaves and rain, and liners protect the wall around the opening.
Bedroom wells keep ladders and clear access so they still work as an exit.
A bottom drain connects to the footing drain or an outlet.
Fresh stone drains better than mud and old leaves.
Clear covers keep out rain and debris without blocking light.
Gaps at the window frame get sealed.
Bedroom wells keep a clear route out.
Surface water is sloped away from the opening.
