Foundation waterproofing and damp proofing that apply the right coating or membrane to below-grade walls for new and existing homes, with drainage that keeps water away.
Damp proofing and waterproofing are not the same thing. Damp proofing is a thin coating that resists soil moisture. Waterproofing is a thicker membrane that can handle water pressing against the wall. Many foundations are damp proofed at best, which is why moisture shows up after years of wet clay and heavy rain. In and around Nashville, deciding which to use, and what drainage goes with it, is one of the most important choices in a foundation project.
For existing homes, we expose the wall, clean it and make repairs. We apply a waterproofing membrane or coating, add drainage board and make sure the footing drain is working. For new foundations, we work with builders to apply the coating, membrane and drain before backfill. We explain what each product does and what it does not do, and we point out where grading, gutters and window wells also play a role. Photos of the wall before backfill give you a record of what is behind the soil.
